I have been using Balance Bars for 25 years since they first came out on the market. I have 1/2 a bar with 6 oz 2% milk as a breakfast every morning before going to the gym. I drink 8 oz of water while exercising. My hunger is satisfied for 3 to 4 hours. They are delicious and high in protein. I couldn't do without my Balance Bars.I keep one in my purse in case I am away from home running errands for several hours.
Almond Brownie is hands down my favorite flavor of balance bars. They're all very good though. My least favorite is the double chocolate brownie. It was just blah. The new dark chocolate varieties are very good. They have a crunchy texture to them. I've tried all balance bars & I love them. The layered ones not as much as the regular kind.

This product makes very flavorful full bodied hot oatmeal. I found no need to add salt for a single serving, but did fix it with 1/2 tsp. of added cinnamon and just a tiny sprinkle of Splenda. One warning is the instructions for fixing a single serving in the microwave! The first time I cooked it, I covered a good sized bowl with saran wrap, but when I went to take it out the cereal had all boiled out onto the microwave turntable. The second time I fixed it, I used a larger diameter bowl with a microwave lid, and the same thing happened, i.e. it pushed up the lid and boiled over. Both times made an awful glutinous mess in the microwave tray. Tomorrow I will try once again, but this time in a bowl with more depth! I plan to eat this cereal every day for hopeful cholesterol improvement, so I need to perfect the microwave cooking. I think it would be helpful if the label mentioned that the product can easily boil over in the microwave.
I have been purchasing Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats from Netrition.com for 2 years or more and have found this product to be extremely satisfying and very tasty. It takes a minimum of time to prepare, has a wonderfully crunchy texture and taste, and is one of the healthiest forms of oatmeal to consume. It helps to reduce your cholesterol levels as well. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their cholesterol numbers and for a very flavorful form of oatmeal.
I love this oatmeal.I'm a type two diabetic and have missed my oatmeal. A small amount of any other oatmeal made my sugar sky rocket, not this. Now I can have it every morning, with no change to my med's. And I can have a WHOLE cup. I make four servings at I time and reheat a serving each morning.
Me and the kid eat low-carb (>60/day). We make half a cup of this each brunch and split it, add a tiny bit of LC sweetener and a couple spoons of cream or half&half. (And in a perfect world, 1oz bacon [3 slices] each also.) This actually fills us up for a good 5-6 hours until it is time for our big protein-fat dinner. We've been losing fat, eating less, yet we're satiated and we just love this stuff. It doesn't spark cravings or other blood sugar or grain side effects like nearly everything else I've gradually tried.
As for cooking it, I just put 2 cups of water in a pot on high heat. When boiling I dump in 1/2 cup dry oats and I stir that off and on for about 3 minutes on high. Then I drop the flame to very-low. It needs to be stirred 2-4 times over the next 30 minutes or it will stick, but that isn't so much. Although it takes more time than most anything else I would cook, it's a special treat for us (it's the carb-iest thing we eat, by far) and really yummy.
Ordinary quick-oats is gummy gluey sugarbomb junk food with more sugar impact than a candy bar or three for most people, it's hard to believe the crap we grow up on and feed the kids when ignorant.
But these long-cooking oats are tasty and filling/satiating and, in reasonable amounts, can even be part of fairly lowcarb eating. We're crazy about them. The kid is 13 so she gets two votes. :-)

My husband's cholesterol dropped 33 points (!) after eating McCann's Irish Oatmeal 5 days a week for 6 months! Even his doctor asked for the order information so he, too, could begin to enjoy this delicious, healthy oatmeal. My husband's favorite way to enjoy his bowl is with a bit of brown sugar, raisins, and a dash of nutmeg. Thanks for a great product!

These oats are FANTASTIC. I had never heard of steel cut oats before, but decided to try them (I have Type 2 diabetes). They have a great nutty taste without adding anything to them and are wonderfully crunchy. They also give you a feeling of fullness long into the day. I have already shared some of mine with a couple of friends, and they are ordering them also. I would highly recommend these oats to anyone. Thank you for a super, super product.
My whole family loves these bars! They have a great nutritional profile and are gluten-free and vegan as well. My favorite are the almond bars, but the p.b. and granola flavors are excellent as well. They taste like real food - they don't have that weird bitter taste that a lot of bars have. I like that they are not coated so they don't melt easily.
Best Gluten Free bars I've tried. I used to be obsessed with Peppermint Stick Luna Bars and once I found out I had to go gluten free, I tried almost every single bar out there that was GF. This is by far the best I've had.
I like the zone bars myself, but more important is that my kids really like them, also. I've found them to serve nicely as a healthy snack or a quick lunch. I think what my kids like best about them is the crunchy soy nuggets which have a similar texture to a crisp rice cereal.
My husband and I are following the Zone Diet along with a very popular workout regimen (which I am not sure I can say here) and it has been the most successful program we ever tried! The Zone bars are a great meal replacement or midday snack to get us through until dinner. We have tried several flavors and have not been disappointed...the dark chocolates are my heavenly indulgence!
I love these bars. They are the best tasting protein bars on the market. Lots of protein, lots of bulk, very filling and bottom line: absolutely delicious. I love the unusual flavors like choc mint, mango and cinnamon bun and I'm going to try the new fruit flavors. Most protein bars are too chocolatey/caramely and have a gummy texture. These are drier, crunchier, very very satisfying texture and again.. super flavor.
There are currently 4 Zone bars that are not chocolate or candy-like (too sweet), for those of us who prefer that. The 4 are of varying hardness, or crunchy-ness, with the Strawberry yogurt being the softest. Two make an excellent, affordable lunch, for those who prefer a quick, neat meal that is not like a candy-bar.
